What Damage Can Japanese Knotweed Cause?

Japanese knotweed can grow wherever there is a crack or a weak spot in your building. This voracious plant is able to grow up to 10cm a day. This means that there can be sudden and severe damage, as well as taking a lot of time and money to repair.

Japanese knotweed has been found to grow in:

  • Concrete – especially where there are gaps, or the area has already deteriorated.
  • Boundary walls or fences – Japanese knotweed will often force its way through any small holes causing boundary walls and fences to become unstable and collapse.
