Removal of Japanese Knotweed In Rainhill

Japanese Knotweed is a big problem throughout the UK, therefore removal of Japanese Knotweed in Rainhill and the rest of the UK is required!

Japanese Knotweed was brought over to the UK from Far East Asia by the Victorians. It was brought over for its ornamental nature, which is rather deceiving due to its lovely green heart-shaped foliage and small white flowers in late summer-early autumn. The ever increasing train lines that were also being built often had Japanese Knotweed planted along the embankments, as Knotweed is strong and resilient. However, it is now causing many problems for individuals who live by railway tracks, as Japanese Knotweed is highly invasive and damaging to properties!

Japanese Knotweed may look lovely in its appearance, but it grows rapidly causing damage along the way. The root system can spread out from the plant up to seven metres and the strong roots can break through concrete, walls and drains. Not only do the roots cause damage, but the foliage can grow up to 1.2 metres per month, during the growing season, taking over your garden!

Herbicide Treatment

In this particular case we were able to spray the Japanese Knotweed with a highly effective herbicide treatment. This herbicide is only available for professional use as it is three hundred times stronger than those available to the general public. By spraying the knotweed in this way, we could be sure that the herbicide is absorbed into the plant. This then kills the roots and underground shoots (rhizomes) which can often spread out for several metres from the original knotweed stand.

By using this treatment method, we were able to eradicate the Japanese Knotweed in just one season. We could then provide the home owners with a ten-year guarantee. Our guarantee means that should the Japanese Knotweed return during that ten-year period, we will treat it free of charge to ensure that it does not affect the property.

The homeowners were able to sell their property, and the new owners could successfully raise a mortgage for their new home. We are able to fulfil all of the criteria that a mortgage company have, and can therefore make sure you are able to mortgage the property. Thankfully, due to early identification, the Japanese Knotweed on the property in Derby had not spread to the neighbour’s garden. Identifying Japanese Knotweed early is incredibly important when trying to control this invasive weed.
